Deleting Your ShareRound Account
Last updated: 8/30/2026
You can delete your ShareRound account, and the data attached to it, at any time. There are two ways to do it: from inside the app, or by asking us, if you can no longer sign in. Both routes delete the same things.
Deleting is free, and you do not need an account or a sign-in to make a request on this page.
Option 1: Delete it yourself in the app
- Open ShareRound and tap your profile photo in the top corner of the Inbox or People screen.
- Choose View from the menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of your profile and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm twice. The deletion runs straight away and cannot be undone.
If you are the only admin of a circle that still has other members, the app will stop and name those circles. Promote another member to admin, or delete the circle, then try again. This is there so a circle you leave behind is not stranded without an administrator.
Option 2: Ask us to delete it for you
Use this if you have lost the device, uninstalled the app, or cannot get back into your account.
Email privacy@shareround.org with the subject Delete my account, from the email address the account uses. If you cannot send from that address, email us anyway and tell us which address the account uses, and we will verify who you are another way before deleting anything.
We confirm receipt within 10 business days and complete the request within 45 days, extending once by a further 45 days only if we genuinely need to, and we will tell you if that happens. In practice most requests are done well inside that window.
What deletion removes
Deleting your account is a real deletion, not a deactivation. We remove:
- Your sign-in credentials and the account itself
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number, birth month and year, and your profile photo
- Every item you own, including item photos and the photos attached to that item’s activity history
- Any circle where you are the only member, including photos posted in it
- Your circle memberships and your connections to other people
- Your notifications, messages, and reminders
- The image files behind all of the above, deleted from our file storage
What may remain for a while, and why
A few things survive the deletion, either because they belong to somebody else as much as to you, or because we are required to keep them. We do not keep any of it for a fixed period, we keep each kind only as long as it is reasonably necessary, then remove it. Section 5 of the Privacy Policy sets out the criteria in full.
| What | Why it may remain after you delete |
|---|---|
| Lending and borrowing records involving another user | The other person’s copy of a shared history stays accurate for them: that an item was lent on a particular date, and returned. Your profile and items disappear from their view. |
| Messages you sent to other people | The copy held by the person you sent it to. Message contents are not retained indefinitely. |
| Security, authentication, and abuse-prevention logs | Kept for a limited period so we can detect and investigate fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access. |
| Diagnostic and error logs | Kept only as long as needed to identify and fix the underlying problem and confirm the fix held. |
| Record that you accepted our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy | Kept for the period in which a dispute about that agreement could still be raised. |
| Routine backups | Deleted information can persist in backups for a further period. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and are not used to restore deleted accounts. |
We may also keep information longer where we have to in order to comply with the law, resolve a dispute, enforce our Terms of Use, or where a legal hold applies.
